WCGC concerts are never dull or staid, seldom predictable & without exception, always fun. It was our first return to the beautiful, quintessentially English village church at Grafton Underwood since 2019 but the church & its community has lost none of its charm nor its ability to provide home-baked cakes and savouries for the choir!! A Saturday evening gig competed with both an FA Cup Final but also the incomparable Eurovision Song Contest.

The new ponchos provided yet more character & the set was fluid, the audience involved & they went home once again buzzing to catch up with the voting procedures for Sam Ryder & the Ukraine.

Having performed al fresco in front of thousands of rugby supporters at Franklin’s Gardens and many more on live television we were undaunted by the invitation to the Waendal Walk Finish at the Castle. Even with an irritating drizzle, some testing organisation from our hosts, as ever we overcame every challenge thrown at us; a long-forgotten but apt Earth, Wind and Fire medley was dredged from the memory bank, an occasional lyric was mumbled & brollies offered token protection for the sound equipment from the elements. However, once again we provided fun for the brave souls who gradually swelled the ranks of what had initially been two men and a dog …after all we are an inclusive ‘community’ choir’!
