WCGC Rehearsals

  • Rehearsals begins with a good stretch, mobilisation exercises and manipulation of the face muscles to get everything relaxed
  • We then begin some deep breathing exercises. These help with phrasing, with supporting the voice properly when belting and conversely when singing very quietly.
  • We then move on to the “One-two-three-four-five” song often sung to “AAh” to warm up the vocal chords and get you used to the higher reach of your range.
  • Finally Gareth introduces you to the songs for the night. This follows a simple pattern of 2-3 mins for each section covering a verse , a chorus or a bridge before all three parts are sung together. You really will learn a complete gospel or R&B track in under 15mins and experience the amazing wall of sound from the inside.

What do our members think?

Karan

"You can just have had the worst day ever, but no matter how you feel when you walk in the doors of choir night, you ALWAYS leave feeling revived, uplifted, confident, re-energised happy and relaxed! in fact ready to handle anything!”

Matt

"Choir is an oasis of peace and joyfulness in my hectic life. Gareth's gift to us all is that he provides the alchemy that allows a diverse collection of amateur singers, young and old, male and female, talented and not so talented, to create something so happy, energetic, joyful, and at times moving that it brings an automatic smile to my face, a lift to my spirit and a tingle down my spine. I would recommend it to anyone”

Sue

"I have been with the choir from the beginning and thoroughly enjoy every minute. You can come in from work, tired and low, but after a few minutes singing, your spirits lift and you feel energised.
Socially great, have made new friends and kept up with old, visited and sang in some fabulous venues. Love it”
