In what would be his last Christmas as the Lead Chaplin at Kettering General Hospital, the Reverend Phillip Staves invited to WCGC to sing carols around the hospital on Thursday 20th December to, hopefully, cheer up the patients who would be spending at least the run up to Christmas in hospital. Karan Harris of WCGC takes up the story.
Armed with tinsel, sparkly bits and carol sheets, an enthusiastic ‘choir’ of around 12 were armed and ready to perform! We split into two groups and dispersed amongst the main tower block of Kettering General Hospital.
We chatted with staff, interacted with patients and visitors and had requests to sing the favourite carols of those on the wards. The singing brought smiles and laughter, especially to the singers!
We could see we were bringing joy to the wards whilst having fun! Those who came enjoyed themselves and didn’t want to stop… mentioning no names… Karen S.
We apologise for there being no photographs but the “girls” didn’t have their handbags.
