After a tremendous start to 2022, we were delighted to perform at the Saints vs Wasps match on 13th March! Resident rubgy enthusiast and choir founder Ruth shares her highlights:
Over the 10 years of our choir we have performed in packed concert halls, intimate community centres & atmospheric medieval churches. However, on Sunday we experienced the unique atmosphere of singing at Franklin’s Gardens, home of Northampton Saints in front of not only a 15,000 crowd but also a live national TV audience!
82 of us moved and grooved at Half Time to ‘Higher & Higher’ and a special adaptation of the home side’s anthem “When the Saints Go Marching In”. Before the game we were also invited to perform a set in the fan zone as supporters enjoyed their fast food & beers. The Saints marketing and technical staff were a pleasure to work alongside before, during and after the game and thoroughly deserve their reputation for community involvement. That the afternoon was rounded off by a try from record-breaking local hero Alex Waller and a Saints victory over Wasps merely added to the joy of the day.
Along with the multitude of video clips of our performances should be added the words of the Saints’ organiser who commented ‘we have had so much positive feedback about the Choir, even the Chief Executive was raving about you…….we would love to have you back for a game and not just because you brought us a bit of luck!’
